My Story
My name is Ebonie Martinez. I am a wife to an amazingly loving and patient man; a mother to three of the most strong-willed and affectionate children; and, a baby sister to five opinionated and protective women. My family is my world. And it's because of them that I started a baking business in the first place.

It all started as a hobby, just for fun. I would bake because it gave me a calming peace that I hadn't experienced in a long time before that. And I loved having my family come over to try all the different flavor cakes that I came up with. They loved it and encouraged me to start selling them. They said I had a gift. I didn't see it that way. I just liked to bake. But they saw something in me that I couldn't see. So I trusted them. I started a side business called Just 4 Fun Sweets. This was just something to do on the side, nothing serious. After all, I was on the career path to become a clinical psychologist.

But as the business grew, it became more demanding, and a lot harder to juggle with my duties as a wife, mother, sister, career woman, and small businessowner. I was drowning in my responsibilities and it was causing a lot of anxiety. That's when I knew that I couldn't juggle it all anymore and it was time to let some of the balls drop.

After much prayer and many tearful conversations with my husband and God, it was clear that it was time to let go of the career I once thought I wanted so badly. My first ministry has always been my family and not showing up for them, fully and wholly, wasn't an option for me. But also, not doing what truly brings me joy wasn't going to work either. I needed to be able to be available to my family but also have an outlet to refuel my peace and my spirit. So I took a leave of absence from my corporate job to focus on what was most important for me: my family. And I decided to focus on my business, full-time.

That's when Frosted Chic Cakery was birthed. I changed the business name to something that I felt could become a household name. Something that would be memorable and represents everything that I stand for: family. When people hear "Frosted Chic," I want them to think of celebrated moments and lasting memories with the people that matter the most. I want Frosted Chic to become a part of your family and you a part of ours.
